Dear Mr Diver,
Thank you for giving us an extended morning tea on Friday I think that not only me but the rest of the school appreciated it lots. This is why I would like to ask you to change the morning tea times permanently to the times we had on Friday. I think that this would help every one to have a better time at Taruanga intermediate. So why would an extended morning tea be so good? Teachers would have longer to work and mark, children would have more time to run around and use energy, and I think that focus levels and the time we take to get back to class would improve.
I believe that if we had a longer morning tea our behaviour would continue to be good when we come back to classes and be more focused to do our work. I think that if we use our spare energy during morning tea we will get higher for all of our work.
I think that the school will also benefit from a longer morning tea because the teachers will be more relaxed if they have more of a break. I think that it is important for this to happen because having better teachers will make children’s learning and behaviour better and the teachers will have an easier time at school
On top of all the benefits above I think that our fitness levels will improve if we are getting more time to run around at morning tea. Fitness levels improving would be great for all the kids because I think that many people would enjoy sports more and be healthier because if they enjoy it more it is likely that they will want to do sports more.
I hope that you will take what I’ve written into consideration and give us an extended morning tea. It would be great for all of us and I hope after reading this you think so to.
Yours sincerely, Rose McLean Wednesday 6 April 2011
Nuclear Power is Bad
Picture your self in country where nuclear power is used. What I see is thousands of tones of waste that your country doesn't know what to do with, waste that could destroy our countries beautiful environment. With nuclear power there is the constant threat of a natural disaster to hit could mean you could be exposed to nuclear radiation at any time, that could give you cancer and other horrible diseases. Japan is currently suffering from nuclear radiation and I certainly don’t want to end up like them. You, your family and your country could be badly effected by nuclear power. Is this what you want?
New Zealand should not have nuclear power. Recently there has been a terrible natural disaster but just as bad, or worse is the nuclear disaster and thousands of people are suffering from radiation. Christchurch has had a earthquake recently and is suffering very badly from all of the damage. What if there was a nuclear power plant in christchurch? New Zealand would suffer even more than they are already are.
Nuclear power causes radiation if it has had a nuclear meltdown, from natural disasters, terrorists and other things. In Chernobyl there was a nuclear meltdown and for many years afterwards there was an abnormally high rate of birth defects. Radiation can cause people to get cancer and other horrible diseases. Nuclear power is a slightly cheeper power source than other sources but if we are exposed to radiation it could give use diseases like cancer that could kill us. Is saving yourself a small amount of money really more important to you than you and your family’s health?
Solar or wind power would be so much better than Nuclear power. Nuclear power produces very deadly toxic waste that even after 10,00 years will remain toxic. There are not safe ways of disposing nuclear waste, it cannot be buried because it is possible that it may seep into the soil in the water supply. If New Zealand remains nuclear free our country will not have tones of waste ruining our country and being a waste of space.
Now do you think that nuclear power would be a good thing for New Zealand? Taking into account all of the terrible things about nuclear power I certainly don’t want that to be the power source for New Zealand.
